Girl Power Motivation

I’ve been listening to motivational books on Audible again. My dad was big into motivation when I was growing up. Zig Zigler has always been one of my favorites. Recently I accidentally stumbled upon whole genre of motivational stuff directed at women.  While I have always understood that women and men are different, think differently, react to situations differently, compete differently I never considered that we needed to be motivated differently.

It’s pretty obvious when I think about it but I guess I’ve always looked at motivational information as being directed at the complete and total end result of improving your finances. Since a 100 dollar bill doesn’t care what your gender is then why would improving your finances care what gender you are right? What I was leaving out of the equation is that improving your finances is just the end result. There are a gazillion ways to get there and a gazillion ways to fail on the path. The trick to motivation is for it to resonate with you, that one you that is unique from everyone else. In my case recently I’m recognizing that my girl power is important to me. Women speaking directly to my girl-power-y-ness totally resonates with me right now.

I strongly recommend you consume motivational something on a regular basis whether you think you need it or not. Here are a couple of female focused motivational books I love and know you will too. Go find them on Amazon, Audible or however it is you like to consume.

Sparkle: The Girl’s Guide to Living a Deliciously Dazzling, Wildly Effervescent, Kick-Ass Life by Cara Alwill Layba *she has several more that are great so far.

You Are a Badass: How to Stop Doubting Your Greatness and Start Living an Awesome Life by Jen Sincero

Oh, and whatever else you do today #BEAWESOME. I’m off to have a glass of champagne and be awesome (ok maybe just some oj and sparkling water since it’s 9am and I have work to do). ~ read Sparkle, you’ll understand the champagne reference.

    1. Happy to help. I happen to know the journey you are on and another book that I think you’d like is Push by Chalene Johnson. She’s pretty well know in the fitness arena but this book is focused more on getting your head in the right space in order to tackle the body stuff. You need the kindle or print version though. Audible won’t cut it for this one.
